Studio 2LR honored with AIA South Carolina Historic Design Award

COLUMBIA, SC – Studio 2LR, an architecture and interior design firm with an emphasis on sustainable contemporary design, recently earned an Honor Award from The South Carolina Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIASC) for the historic preservation Adluh Flour project.

Studio 2LR Principal Tripp Riley, AIA accepted the award at the 2017 AIASC Design Awards Reception held in Charleston, South Carolina on April 21, 2017.

The Adluh Flour building is a two-story brick building constructed ca. 1910. The existing wood roof trusses and floor joists remain and are visible aesthetic elements along with the exterior brick walls in the individual tenant spaces. During the renovation of the interior of the building, the original wood flooring was salvaged and reinstalled in the lobby areas. Adluh Flour was initially operated by B.R. Crooner and family. In 1926 the Allen Brothers Milling Company bought the mill and its surrounding buildings and have been operating the mill ever since.
