Brick Works

Cayce, South Carolina

The Guignard Brick Works is an early twentieth century industrial complex that produced bricks for many buildings constructed in Columbia and throughout the state from around 1900 to the mid-twentieth century. The property features several historically significant structures including 4 beehive or circular downdraft brick kilns, a small office building, and other remnants of the early industrial development. The land adjacent to the Brick Works site has recently been master planned for future development. This unbuilt adaptive re-use project explores the potential for showcasing the historic kilns and office building as part of the overall development of the property.
