Studio 2LR Earns Design Honor Award

COLUMBIA, S.C.  – Studio 2LR, Inc., an architecture and interior design firm creating impact through transformative design, earned a design Honor Award from the Columbia section of the American Institute of Architects.

The design for Sandbar House, a private residence in Chapin, South Carolina received a design Honor Award for new construction. The 4,000 SF modern house sits on a 2-acre lake front property. The residence is clad in white stucco with ribbed metal panels and cypress wood accents. Maximum energy efficiency is achieved with insulated concrete formed walls, while large glass openings frame views of the surrounding lake property.

The design jury commented, “Handsomely detailed and organized – a striking composition from all views. Allows the interior and exterior to flow seamless together and the overall effect is bright and nature-filled interior. The dramatic spaces created on interior, formed by a quiet exterior design, were a surprise. We found it very much in balance. A lot of attention to detail and a lot of restraint in the design. Very friendly and approachable for being so modern.”
