Previously a nearly windowless structure, the Library Building at York Technical College has been transformed into the Anne Springs Close Learning Commons—a vibrant hub for student life filled with light and energy. Exceeding expectations, the new Learning Commons has become a favored destination, where students choose to spend their downtime between classes.
To achieve this transformation, the College made bold decisions, reducing physical collections while expanding access to technology and student-centered spaces. The renovated and expanded facility now features a food court, a mix of active learning and quiet study areas, tutoring and testing services, and even a new game room, creating a dynamic environment tailored to student needs.
This project is proudly LEED Gold Certified, reflecting a commitment to sustainability and innovation in educational spaces.
