The South Carolina Department of Education occupies a new 3-story 150,000 SF facility located adjacent to Interstate 26 on the SC State Farmers Market campus. The new headquarters building consolidates multiple former office locations and provides flexible spaces and upgraded technology to meet the current and future needs of the SCDE. Program functions include large meeting spaces, conference areas, work rooms, offices, and additional support services areas. The design strategy emphasizes natural light throughout the interior spaces. Large composite metal canopies are designed to provide sun shading and feature “school bus yellow” accents to draw attention to the primary building entrances.
