07 Apr Two Projects Recognized at AIA South Carolina Design Awards
COLUMBIA, SC – Studio 2LR, an architecture and interior design firm with an emphasis on sustainable contemporary design, recently earned two design awards from The South Carolina Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIASC).
Tripp Riley, AIA, and Wes Lyles, AIA, principals at Studio 2LR, accepted both awards at the 2015 AIASC Design Awards Reception held in Greenville, SC on March 27, 2015.
The City of Columbia Council Chambers restoration project received a Historic Preservation Honor Award. The final restoration included repairs to the historic plaster including intricate original plaster detail repair and replacement, new paint including period-appropriate colors, new lighting including a period chandelier, a new audio/visual system, and the complete restoration of the historic skylight. The Council Chambers previously earned a Preservation/Restoration Award from Historic Columbia in 2014.
The SC National Guard Florence Field Maintenance Shop Phase I project, located in Florence, SC, received a Merit Award. This 14,800 SF project was designed as part of a state of the art military maintenance campus. This project also earned an Honor Award in 2012 from the American Institute of Architects Greater Columbia Section, and was featured in a national construction magazine in 2013.
